He got dropped in my league. Not sure if it was for missing a game or the whole allegedly choking a woman wednesday night thing that rotoworld for some reason hasn't blurbed about. Who knows what happened, but it's not like this the first time he's been accused of beating up women. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck I don't remember Z-bo being accused of anything like that. Weed in his car? Hanging around with heavily heated gangsters? Stolen merchandise?
But I don't recall any incidents of domestic violence. Not saying it didn't happen, I just don't recall it. I can recall at least two times he's been accused of this. Wednesday night would be the third. At a certain point it's hard to give the benefit of the doubt. My guess is Rotoworld is trying to be noble by not commenting until the facts are all out, but it's their job to speculate on things that could effect a player's fantasy value, and I'd say this is definitely one of those things. Seems pretty unlikely that this will effect his fantasy value this season unless he's arrested which seems pretty unlikely.
I did a search and couldn't find anything accusations of violence against women in Z-bo's past. Does anyone else remember this? Google different words or sumtin. I know somebody sued him for sexual assault when he was in Portland. Don't think anything has ever stuck but he's notorious for hiring strippers and prostitutes regularly and not being nice to them. At a certain point of allegations coming up its hard to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Probably wont affect him this year much, but maybe they hold him out a little longer until this blows over and there should at least be a mention in a blurb about it for keeper leagues.
He started to show signs of good health in the playoffs. After years of not living up to his on-court talent and dealing with what seemed to be endless off-court issues, the much-maligned Randolph has put it all together since joining the Grizzlies. For the second consecutive season, Randolph averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds, making him the only player in the NBA to do so in each of the past two years.
As his game has matured, Randolph has become more efficient as a player, leading to his highest shooting percentage His 0. As long as he can stay out of trouble, Randolph will be remain one of the best scoring and rebounding combos in fantasy. After two teams in two seasons gave Randolph up for nothing, the Grizzlies' acquisition of Z-Bo was questioned — and criticized. Unfortunately, after the season, Randolph's less-appealing side manifested itself again, with two separate criminal investigations — one in Indianapolis and another in L.
For that reason alone, Randolph has plenty of motivation to be on his best behavior — another season is to be expected. Randolph will start at power forward for the Grizzlies and should put up similar stats to what he amassed while with the Clippers last year. Only three other players, Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson and Chris Bosh, averaged more than 20 points and 10 rebounds last season, putting Randolph in good company.
Randolph has taken an increasing number of three point attempts over the last two seasons. With Marc Gasol and rookie Hasheem Thabeet doing most of their work around the paint, Randolph could be asked to step out and shoot more threes this year. Memphis scored the second least points per game in the league last year The Knicks are now very clearly in rebuilding mode, with decisions to make on several players, including Randolph. According to various reports, general manager Donnie Walsh passed on a trade that would have sent Randolph to the Clippers for cap relief.
Randolph is coming off of a career season in Portland, but this summer he was traded to New York which could hurt his fantasy outlook. He joins a Knicks team that starts Eddy Curry at center, and Curry shares almost all of the same strengths and weaknesses as Randolph.
This could push Randolph off the block on offense. If this causes his scoring and field-goal percentage to dip, his fantasy value could slip down a notch. Last season was his first year back, and though he still posted a respectable 18 ppg and 8. Randolph is a , pound chunk that used to make his money on the blocks. Microfracture surgery generally takes 18 months to heal completely, so theoretically Randolph should be healthier this season than he was a year ago.
It takes a bold fantasy owner to draft anybody on the Blazers, but if you have to pick someone, Randolph's your best bet. After propelling many fantasy teams in with a huge season, Randolph suffered through an injury-plagued , playing just 46 games due to knee problems. When he did play, Randolph averaged 19 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game, but he drew the ire of former coach Maurice Cheeks for shooting too much and failing to keep his teammates involved. Randolph's not much of a defensive presence, so won't give you much in the way of steals or shot-blocking.
Isn't it amazing how some teams have distinct personalities that extend to every player? The Detroit "Bad Boy" Pistons The "Bash Brother" A's of the late '80s and early '90s. John Madden's Raiders. And, of course, the Jail Blazers. As Dave Joerger shuffled his lineups around in the middle of the season, Z-Bo found himself the odd man out, relegated to a bench role while guys like Jeff Green took starts at the four.
The removal from the starting role also came with a reduced workload. Randolph's minutes per game dropped below thirty for the first time since ''12, and only the second time during his Memphis tenure.
If not for the injury plague of the second half of the season, it's arguable that Z-Bo's playing time would've dropped even lower. Now, on the verge of a new season and under a new coaching staff, it's worth asking what Z-Bo's role will be moving forward. Will he return to his starting spot, or will he be relegated to the second unit?
When faced with size early, Fizdale can pencil Z-Bo into the starting spot. On nights when the opponent presents more athletic play at forward, Fizdale can roll out a small lineup with Chandler Parsons at the four.
