Psy Crystal. You can give it, and any other material you find with the "forgeable" note, to her to get some decent equipment.
It takes her some time to forge it, so after you hand the material over, you'll need to exit Champa entirely, then immediately come back in. You're done here for now. There's a leaf just to the south of Obaba, so cast Growth on it and descend. Retrace your steps until you get back to the two guys who are standing by a bonfire, then turn south and go to the docks. On the second dock you pass on your left, turn down it and go to the end. You'll be able to hop on some boxes there, and in fact hop north under the bridge and into a cave.
At the end of it is a locked door, but your key you found in Obaba's room will open it up. One of the treasures in there will net you a forgeable ore, so you can turn that into a piece of armor. Passaj meanwhile takes a bit of effort to get to, but it will give you some additional information on what's going on.
From Champa, sail west while hugging the coast. About halfway between the corners of the country will be a beach that is also divided by a river that dumps out to the sea you're on.
If you "cross" the river, then you've gone too far: just make landfall on the beach on the east side of the river, then proceed north.
Follow the road, and you'll find the Passaj mountain climb. Get to the top and visit the Alchemy Forge. The elder will give you some information, as well as give a name to the tragedy that has befallen the world. After the scene, talk to Obaba.
You'll hand her the pieces of the trident that you've got so far - it's the legendary trident of Ankohl, and you'll need it rebuilding if you want to get into Lemuria. When you try to leave to the world map, you'll trigger a scene with Alex.
He's appeared again, and he's bought some friends with him too. Karst will show up, and soon after, a person you haven't met yet. He's Agatio, and together, they serve exactly the same purpose as Saturos and Menardi did in the original Golden Sun. Anyway, you'll get threatened into picking up the pace with getting to Jupiter Lighthouse, but it won't last - you've still got to go to Lemuria and fulfill another prophecy before you even get anywhere near Jupiter Lighthouse.
When you're finished speaking to them, leave to the world map.
